About Us
We are beekeepers on the American Riviera, focused on sustainability, making products that are better for you and better for the planet.
The bees are our main cause.
We tend to them, rescue them, remove, relocate and rehabilitate them. We provide nucs (a nucleus of bees) and queens to new and seasoned beekeepers. We believe that the backyard beekeeper, as opposed to large commercial outfits, can help solve for the decline in bee populations caused by the varroa mite, pesticide use and very little rain fall. Over the last few years, we have helped 30-50 new beekeepers get started each year. We do what we can and the bees do way more for us than we can do for them. In so many ways.
We have a little store/bakery/café in Carpinteria, CA,. Barnaby, grew up in Paris and photographs top chefs globally. He learned how to make sourdough and croissants and pain au chocolats. We bake them daily and make sourdough pizzas and much more with a talented team of bakers.
Pat and his daughter Sara, with some help, tend to our bees and help others learn or maintain their hives for them.
Always lots of excitement coming out of our hive between production creation, events, tastings, classes and more.
Some things of note:
Our Avocado honey was used by Noma at pop up dinners in LA in a brilliant desert bite. Our bee pollen was used on ceviche. Noma is the 5 times #1 restaurant in the world. It is a huge honor for us.
Our sourdough starter was gifted to us by Hart Bageri in Copenhagen. Hart is part of the Noma family. If you find yourself in Copenhagen, Hart is a must visit.
Our Hot Honey, infused with jalapeños and chilis, is fantastic on pizzas, ice cream, cheese platters. Almost anything. We released it at Earth Day and it sold out quickly, We have re-released it a recyclable squeeze bottle made from recycled material.
We are probably one of the few shops where you can order a Cappuccino and a Queen. Our coffee is organic. Only 5% of the coffee in the world is organic and it is one of the most heavily sprayed crops,
We hope to see you in Carp or online. We are open Tuesday to Sunday from 7am to 7pm. We are closed on Mondays.
